Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)

★★★★ Watched 19 Oct 2021

Surprisingly managed to pull on my heartstrings despite all the silliness and weird jokes. Also brought back some happy memories of early childhood watching the Eurovision contest with my family and friends. The funny thing is that the real songs are even more crazy and full of pathos than the ones cleverly presented in this movie.

At the end of the day, it is a well-intended and well-made silly movie about a silly contest that only Europeans that grew up with it in the 70s and 80s can truly understand and appreciate. It’s not particularly funny or original but it proudly wears the heart on its sleeve and has a good simple evergreen message.

BTW, Rachel McAdams lights up every scene and the movie even got nominated for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song)!
