Surprisingly self-aware sequel to Gnomeo and Juliet that I haven’t seen at this point and is also referenced as part of the story. This time around they play off the relationship dynamic of both partners (Sherlock/Watson, Gnomeo/Juliet) that share similarities despite the obvious type difference (work vs romance). Humor is distinguishably British which works well in Sherlock Holmes setting of modern London. There’s a couple of Internet browsing jokes that aged pretty well. Animation is well done for independent production. Especially a few very realistic looking textures on the gnomes.
Overall enjoyable kiddy fare that is not as predictable as one would expect. Even though I sensed the final battle pretty early on, I still got fooled by the double twist. I also liked the moral of the story that is presented to the younger audience in a classic fable style.
