★★★½ Rewatched 05 Apr, 2019
I have fond memories of this one. I’ve seen it at the cinema with my father. I believe this was my second Bond and the first one I knew the title of. I haven’t seen it for at least 20 years and the skiing and underwater sequences started to blend together from various Bond movies in my memory. The most vivid memory of this one I had was the Citroen car chase sequence at the beginning and the underwater part with sharks swimming around them while they were breathing with the tank she left by the ruins. Why she did that in an earlier scene is never explained. Now I also noticed the vast age difference between two very young girls and the Bond himself.
Overall it was an enjoyable experience especially due to many different European locations I have visited myself since my first viewing (Greece, Italian Alps). I still like the title music, but I’ve noticed now how uneven the background music is. Especially during action sequences (some are even silent). The direction lacks cohesion as it feels a bit cobbled together. The story is not bad at all, I just wish it would flow better.
